About the role

The role involves preparing patients for examinations, performing preliminary tests, assisting physicians, and managing clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preliminary physical tests, takes vital signs, and reports patient history.
  • Cleans exam rooms and obtains lab specimens.
  • Selects appropriate equipment and verifies specimen orders.
  • Prepares exam rooms, assists Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs), and maintains supplies.
  • Documents medical information in electronic medical records and maintains statistics.
  • Performs electrocardiograms and other tests, verifies patient information, and documents patient call documentation.
  • Coordinates with front office personnel and ancillary staff.
  • Assists in patient reception and checkout processes, including claim creation and discharge paperwork.
  • Performs injections and other duties as directed by a provider.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including cross-training for Patient Reception Rep roles.
  • Monitors patients through the New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program (NJPMP).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by recognized agencies.
  • Current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), NCCT, AMCA, NAHP, NCMA, or AMT.
  • AHA BLS certification.

  • Effective communication and phone etiquette.
  • Training in injection techniques, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Medical record management knowledge.
