Mechanic
About the role
The Mechanic serves as a skilled maintenance professional responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of landscape equipment, fleet vehicles, trailers, and small engines. Reporting to branch operations leadership, this role plays a critical part in maximizing equipment uptime, supporting field operations, and ensuring safe and efficient fleet performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues on landscape equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, skid steers, mowers, sweepers, and other commercial equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify equipment deficiencies before failures occur.
- Maintain service schedules and ensure equipment is serviced according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Troubleshoot and repair small engines, commercial landscaping equipment, and light-duty vehicles.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and service documentation.
- Order, track, and manage parts inventory to support repair and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards and equipment operating procedures.
- Cook up and repair equipment to support urgent repair needs to minimize operational downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to equipment maintenance and fleet management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, equipment technician, diesel technician, or related field.
- Experience maintaining commercial landscape equipment, fleet vehicles, trailers, and small engines preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems.
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs independently.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
