About the role

A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $4,293 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE: $2,146.50 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $2,146.50 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.

Participates in the repair and maintenance of 800+ vehicles and pieces of motorized equipment, including UNC-owned and NC Motor Fleet vehicles. Work performed includes but is not limited to oil changes and lubrication; tune-ups; replacement of electrical system components; replacement of water, fuel, and power steering pumps; cooling system service; brake service; exhaust system repair/replacement; transmission and clutch service; complete engine overhaul; and computerized wheel balancing machine.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses computer-controlled systems and makes repairs that are consistent with industry standards.
• Performs oil changes and lubrication.
• Performs tune-ups.
• Replaces electrical system components.
• Replaces water, fuel, and power steering pumps.
• Serves cooling systems.
• Services brakes.
• Repairs/exchanges exhaust systems.
• Servicing transmissions and clutches.
• Overhauls engines.
• Performs computerized wheel balancing.

Requirements

• A valid North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
• NC State Inspector’s License or the ability to achieve certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
• Optional Guidelines: Experience in the field of work related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Skills

• Ability to stoop, bend, work overhead and stand on feet for extended periods of time.
