Job Responsibilities
- Aid the Meat Manager in managing the Meat Department by writing orders, assigning tasks, and ensuring the department operates efficiently.
- Assist customers in selecting and cutting various meat cuts, and organize products in sales cases.
- Maintain product levels in sales cases by regularly inspecting stock and preparing items for display.
- Ensure compliance with the store's out-of-stock percentage goals by following established procedures.
- Develop and train Team Members, identifying potential candidates for the Management Development Process.
- Understand and adhere to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and perform tasks such as unloading and checking in orders.
- Stock frozen foods and lunch meats in sales cases, and unload deliveries in coolers and freezers.
- Maintain the cold-chain process and ensure proper sanitation and safety protocols are followed.
- Model, understand, and promote safety processes and requirements, including those from the Health Department, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies.
- Actively engage in suggesting additional menu items and sharing food knowledge with Team Members and customers.
- Apply appropriate suggestive selling techniques during interactions with both internal and external customers.
- Conduct business with integrity, understanding that customer service is a key differentiator for the company.
- Participate in and promote an inclusive environment that respects all team members, customers, vendors, and the community.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, floors, and ensure sanitation regulations are met.
About the Role
The Assistant Meat Team Leader assists the Meat Manager in overseeing the Meat Department, ensuring efficient operations and customer satisfaction. This includes managing orders, training staff, and promoting a safe and respectful workplace culture.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Meat operations or related fields.
- Prior management experience in Meat operations or related fields.
- Customer Service Experience.
- Knowledge of Market District meat operational procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret Profit and Loss statements.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Meat cutting certification.
- Up to 50 pounds lifting requirement.
- Age requirement of at least 18 years old.
Qualifications
- Desired Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Desired Certification or Licensing: Meat cutting certification.
Skills
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting financial statements.
