Math Tutor

This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future part-time Mathematics Instruction & Classroom Support Tech-Tutor positions at the Bremerton (Main) Campus. Positions are reviewed quarter-by-quarter and applicants remain active for 12 months.

About the role

Help students develop knowledge, insight, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills in Mathematics course materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
• Assist students in interpreting and understanding mathematical concepts.
• Assist students in developing critical thinking and mathematical communication skills.
• Assist students in developing effective study habits and skills.
• Assist students working in an online format.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.
• High School Graduate, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student.
• Completion of MATH 141 (or equivalent course) with a decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
• Basic computer competency.

Preferred Qualifications

• College teaching or previous tutoring experience.
• Completion of Math 141, Math 142, Math 151, Math 152, and Math 163 (or equivalent courses) with grades of 3.5 or higher.

Pay

$20.49 - $27.28 hourly.

Schedule

Up to 18 hours per week.

Conditions of Employment

• Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
• Completion of the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327.
• Must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus at the time of hiring.
• Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
• Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits.
• Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.
