Math Tutor

About the role

Sunburst Youth Academy is a tuition-free, military-style residential program located on the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, CA. This position offers tutoring services to at-risk teens (ages 16–18) in Math.

Responsibilities

• Work inside the classroom in a co-teaching model as a partner with a fully credentialed teacher.
• Tutor students in Math from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus/Math Analysis.
• Communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Show strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Be highly dependable and motivated to help students achieve academic excellence.
• Provide in-person tutoring services.

Requirements

• Minimum of 60 units of college credits with a minimum of 2-3 years of tutoring experience in Math.
• Proficiency in high-level math as tutoring is for high school students.
• Teaching or tutoring certification preferred but not required.
• Must have reliable transportation for in-person tutoring.
• Proof of insurance for your vehicle is needed if driving.
• Must provide a negative tuberculosis test (valid within the last 2 years).

Qualifications

• Must provide a copy of any certification you hold such as a Teacher’s Credential/Certification or Tutor Certification.
• National Tutoring Association certification available to StudentNest tutors.

Pay

$24-25 per hour based on experience.

Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-3:00PM
