Mass Tort Paralegal
About the role
Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Mass Tort Paralegal to support attorneys in fact investigation, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management, and overall client service. The position is available in our virtual office, The Link, or our St. Louis office.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to attorneys in fact investigation, witness interviews, drafting pleadings and correspondence, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management, and overall client service.
- Prepare materials for and assist in preparation for depositions, hearings, and trials and related proceedings, and attend same if needed.
- Pre-trial preparation and trial attendance.
- Prepare draft pleadings and discovery.
- Clock filing of pleadings/documents and arrange for service.
- Collect and summarize medical and/or other records.
- Aid in calendaring/docketing.
- Work with attorneys in multiple offices.
- Act as a liaison between clients, colleagues, and experts to ensure timely communication of case information and production of materials.
- Stay informed of developments in the product liability practice areas and the Paralegal industry.
- Maintain professional demeanor and attitude.
- Comply with firm policies.
- Sustain attention to detail and quality of work.
- Learn/develop technical proficiency in database use and management; internet/electronic research; and project folder/electronic file maintenance.
- Independently organize and manage files or delegate similar tasks to Paralegal Assistants or Information Governance and supervise same.
- Attend and participate in in-house CLEs.
- Mentor Paralegal Assistants.
- Anticipate attorney needs.
- Independently handle all key duties without supervision of another Paralegal or Senior Paralegal.
- Familiarity and experience with adopting legal AI and ability to learn and implement new AI preferred.
- Meet billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience.
- Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in a law related field or Associate’s degree and paralegal training.
