About the role

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region is seeking a creative, organized communicator to tell the stories of our work and connect people to our mission. As Marketing & Communications Coordinator, you’ll create content, manage social media, design promotional materials, support events, and share the impact of affordable housing and sustainability initiatives in the region. About 60% of this position supports Habitat’s programs, events, and ReStore communications, while 40% supports two regional sustainability partnerships—La Crosse Area Waters and Fishers & Farmers Partnership—for which Habitat provides contract communications services. The exact nature of the role and division of duties is likely to evolve over time in tandem with the organization’s growth.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation & Storytelling: Create engaging content for social media, websites, email, print materials, and other communication channels. Capture photos, video, and stories that highlight Habitat’s impact and community partnerships. Write news releases, blog posts, newsletters, and promotional copy for a variety of audiences.
  • Social Media & Digital Marketing: Manage social media accounts for Habitat for Humanity, Habitat ReStore, La Crosse Area Waters, and Fishers & Farmers Partnership. Develop calendars, track engagement and analytics, and recommend strategies to grow reach. Maintain website content and support digital advertising campaigns.
  • Graphic Design & Brand Management: Design print and digital materials that promote programs, fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and community events. Ensure consistent branding across all communications. Collaborate with staff to develop marketing strategies for new initiatives.
  • Events & Community Engagement: Promote and support events such as Women Build, Neighbors Day, Housing Week, Fishers & Farmers annual workshop, and community tabling events. Assist with event planning and logistics and provide day-of communications support. Represent Habitat in the community by building relationships with volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit work, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
  • Strong graphic design skills and experience creating digital and print marketing materials.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and interpreting engagement analytics.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.

Preferred

  • Experience with Canva, WordPress, or similar marketing platforms.
  • Photography and/or videography experience.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations or community-based initiatives.
  • Passion for affordable housing, sustainability, or community development.

Pay

Salary range: $45,000–$55,000

Schedule

Permanent, full-time exempt, salaried position. The work week is typically Monday–Friday with occasional evenings or weekends.
