About the role
Cal-Wood Education Center is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Marketing and Communications Coordinator to support the organization’s outreach, storytelling, and engagement efforts. This part-time, hourly role is responsible for content creation, marketing, social media management, newsletters, Google Ads management, fundraising event support, organizational and public communications.
Responsibilities
- Marketing & Content Creation
- Create engaging content for social media, email campaigns, newsletters, website updates, and promotional materials.
- Design marketing materials and visual content using Canva or similar design platforms.
- Capture and organize photos, videos, and stories that highlight Cal-Wood programs, events, and community impact.
- Aid in maintaining consistent organizational branding and messaging across all communication channels.
- Draft marketing copy for campaigns, fundraising initiatives, seasonal programming, and organizational announcements.
- Communications
- Develop and implement email campaigns and e-newsletters for donors, families, schools, volunteers, and community partners.
- Support internal and external communications, including announcements, event communications, and program updates.
- Manage organizational website, ensuring that content is always up-to-date and engaging.
- Maintain communication and marketing calendars.
- Marketing & Advertising
- Manage and monitor Google Ads campaigns and related analytics.
- Support digital marketing efforts, including email marketing, and social media engagement.
- Track marketing metrics and provide periodic reports on campaign performance and engagement.
- Implement marketing through various media channels such as, print, radio and TV.
- Fundraising Event Planning & Logistics Support
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting fundraising events, community events, and outreach activities.
- Support event logistics including vendor coordination, registration tracking, sponsorship communications, materials preparation, and on-site support.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure successful execution of donor and community engagement events.
- Administrative & Collaborative Support
- Work collaboratively with program, development, and operations staff to support organizational goals.
- Maintain organized marketing files, templates, and communication assets.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish, and experience in engaging multicultural audiences is strongly preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit outreach, fundraising support, or related work preferred.
- Experience using Canva, Bloomerang, Google Ads, and social media management tools preferred.
- Strong graphic design for digital media and video editing skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace required.
- Photography, videography, or graphic design experience is a plus.
- Part-time hourly position with flexible scheduling based on organizational needs.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to the office.
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required for events or special programs.
- Work may include both office and outdoor/event environments.
- $25/hr
