Marketing and Communications Coordinator
About the Role
We’re looking for a curious, creative, and motivated Marketing & Communications Coordinator to bring Gallagher Asphalt’s people, projects, and stories to life. You’ll create content that showcases our business—from jobsites and plants to employee celebrations and everyday moments. This role is hands-on: you’ll manage social media, produce photos and videos, improve internal communications, celebrate our team, and help plan company events. We want someone who isn’t just checking boxes but bringing fresh ideas and a willingness to try new things.
Responsibilities
- Tell our story by creating content that highlights major projects, equipment, employee stories, community involvement, safety initiatives, recruiting, and everyday moments.
- Own our social media presence: plan, create, schedule, and publish content across channels, gather photos/video, write posts, engage with our community, and refine strategies based on performance.
- Get out where the action is—spend time with office, field, plant, and shop teams to learn their work, build relationships, and capture stories worth sharing.
- Create content people want to see, including employee spotlights, project stories, company videos, graphics, website content, recruiting materials, presentations, and other creative projects.
- Improve internal communications by partnering with leadership to turn company updates into clear, useful messages for employees.
- Celebrate our people through creative recognition of birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, retirements, accomplishments, and team wins.
- Bring events to life by leading the planning of company events, employee celebrations, recruiting events, and community activities.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with the right mix of ability, initiative, and potential. You may be a great fit if you:
- Are a self-starter who sees what needs to be done and takes action.
- Are curious and genuinely interested in learning how a business works.
- Aren’t afraid to step onto a jobsite, talk with employees, and figure out what’s happening.
- Can take an idea from concept to finished product.
- Enjoy writing, storytelling, social media, photography, video, design, or a combination of these skills.
- Have strong creative instincts but can also take feedback and adjust.
- Can juggle multiple projects without letting details slip.
- Build relationships easily with people at all levels, from field employees to leadership.
- Bring ideas forward instead of waiting for direction.
- Want an opportunity to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility over time.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in marketing, communications, social media, content creation, public relations, event planning, or a related field.
- A four-year degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related area is preferred, but relevant experience matters.
- Experience with tools like Canva, social media platforms, website/CMS tools, Microsoft Office, project-management programs, and AI tools.
- Basic photography and video editing skills are valuable.
- Construction experience is a plus but not required—willingness to learn is what matters.
Why This Role Is Different
This isn’t just about keeping things running—it’s about making them better. You’ll work closely with leadership, bring forward ideas, try new things, and take ownership of your work. The role is designed to grow with you, offering opportunities to learn, contribute, and make your mark in a company that values creativity and initiative.
