About the role

This position will be located at Bennett Spring State Park, 26250 Highway 64A, Lebanon, MO. Shifts are primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch. Regular days off will be Saturday and Sunday but may vary. Shifts may vary with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility; that could include working nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
  • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, grounds, and cemeteries.
  • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
  • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
  • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

Requirements

Equivalent to those typically gained by 1 – 3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience.) Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.
