About the role
We are seeking an individual to join our team at St. Joe State Park and Missouri Mines State Historic Site. Our mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the environment while serving the citizens of Missouri. This position requires a combination of semi-skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction and repair of buildings and trail systems, and occasional assistance in water/wastewater operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, and building cleaning.
- Operate and maintain various mechanical equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors, skid loaders, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, etc.
- Assist with stewardship of resources, including participating in controlled burns, invasive plant removal, and other resource management projects.
- Communicate openly and effectively with the public, stakeholders, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures, and policies.
- Attend mandatory and other trainings, including overnight stays, to learn new or enhance existing skills.
- Purchase operating supplies, parts, and project materials as necessary.
- Obtain and maintain water/wastewater certifications and/or other required licenses/certifications within the first year of employment.
Requirements
- Equivalent to 1-3 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, concrete, masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
- Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.
