About the Role

Assigned mechanical job duties to maintain and repair food processing equipment. Completes repairs during the processing season to meet production goals. Overhaul and install plant equipment during non-production periods to be ready for the next scheduled production run.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment throughout the facility
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace machinery as required
  • Read sketches and blueprints to determine the layout of assigned work
  • Design, fabricate, weld, and install equipment as required
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and preventive maintenance completed
  • Monitor equipment operation making any necessary adjustments
  • Complete purchase order requests to order parts and supplies for the department
  • Assist in training new and junior mechanics
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of assigned work areas
  • Operate machinery and tools in a safe manner
  • May assist in scheduling of mechanics for department
  • Other duties as assigned or required by management

Requirements

  • Ability to use required hand and power tools (including welders (MIG & TIG) and torch cutters)
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Mechanical repair and equipment maintenance knowledge
  • Attention to detail when working with diagrams, prints, and manuals
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some post-high school education or training is beneficial
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Five (5) years of maintenance mechanic experience in an industrial setting preferred
