Responsibilities
- Fulfills plant safety procedures and guidelines.
- Knows and follows emergency procedures and knows what to do in case of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
- Wears and uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Understands and implements Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
- Informs supervisor of safety issues and reports workplace injuries or incidents immediately.
- Participates actively in safety improvement processes such as Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, etc.
- Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure smooth operation of machines, efficient building systems, and proper building condition.
- Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, then reassembles equipment.
- Determines and corrects mechanical problems by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Orders parts, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Assists in assembling, installing, or repairing wiring, electrical, and electronic components, machinery, and equipment.
- Assists other workers with specific tasks as requested.
- Follows plant quality practices, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Works within defined processes and procedures or helps determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
- Prepares technical reports documenting equipment modifications and maintenance procedures.
- Supports the Plant’s Food Safety initiatives by completing required Food Safety training and adhering to the required practices.
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to read and understand blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs. Must be able to follow instructions and work independently.
