M&O Maintenance Worker I - Janitor

About the role

Provide routine cleaning and custodial services throughout City buildings. Duties include:

• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors
• Removing trash and debris
• Dusting, light maintenance, changing light bulbs and air filters
• Washing windows inside and around buildings
• Disinfecting and cleaning restrooms
• Dusting, polishing, and waxing furniture
• Emptying trash, washing and cleaning walls, windows, and vents
• Performing related work as assigned

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties
• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution highly desired
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License

• Basic maintenance and repair principles, practices, and methods
• Job-related equipment

• Basic mathematical concepts
• Basic plumbing and electrical methods

• Operating small hand and power tools
• Operating a vehicle
• Performing manual labor

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions

Positions in this class typically require:

• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
• Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Incumbents may be subjected to:

• Atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, hazardous materials (chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids)
• Extreme temperatures and exposure to the elements
• Travel across rough, uneven and rocky surfaces
• Environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment

Schedule

• Work may include weekends and evenings/nights
• Participating in rotating on-call duties

Pay

Full salary range for position: $18.43 - $25.80 hourly
