Level Designer

About the role

Disney Digital Entertainment is seeking a Level Designer for an ambitious and exciting new project. Ideal candidates are imaginative creators with superb game development skills who love Disney/Pixar, 20th Century, Star Wars, and Marvel properties.

Responsibilities

• Create game content using Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting in Verse for several interactive games and experiences based on Disney’s portfolio.
• Collaborate with environment artists to design and build compelling gameplay spaces for players.
• Design, implement, and iterate on gameplay setups including puzzles, combat, and more.
• Write, update, and maintain detailed level design documentation.

Requirements

• 3 years of game development experience, including at least one shipped game in a similar role.
• Experience developing content using Unreal Engine and/or UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) and proficiency in C++, Blueprints, and/or the Verse Scripting language.
• Excellent collaboration and partnership skills, able to work through challenges and reach consensus.
• A deep appreciation for Disney’s IP, including characters and lore, linear media, movie franchises, theme park design, and aesthetics.
• A strong sense of creating fun and compelling gaming experiences.
• Expertise in 3D game engines and understanding their strengths and limitations in level design.
• Effective communication skills with other teams and groups.
• Knowledge of best practices in level design across various game styles.
• A desire to innovate and create engaging experiences that encourage player interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Game Design or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

• Proficiency in Unreal Engine and UEFN.
• Experience with C++, Blueprints, and/or Verse scripting.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities.
• Understanding of Disney’s IP and its application in game design.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of level design best practices.
• Passion for innovation and creating engaging gaming experiences.
