Lecturer - SOC 360: Quantitative Research Methods (Fall 2026)

California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach SOC 360: Quantitative Research Methods in a hybrid and in-person modality.

The logic and procedures of social science methodology, including the range of quantitative methods available for various research approaches. Coursework covers problem formulation, research design, data collection, and analysis of a research project.

Requirements

• A master's degree in Sociology, Criminology & Justice Studies, or a closely related field
• Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, working in the State of California is a condition of employment

Qualifications

• A doctorate or terminal degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field (preferred)
• Higher education experience teaching Sociology and/or Criminology & Justice Studies (preferred)
• Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community through teaching and service (preferred)

Pay

Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $8,000 per full-time month. Salary is based on the following CSU classification ranges:

• Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month
• Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
