The Department of Sociology and Criminology & Justice Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach SOC 320: Sociological Theory.

About the role

This position is a part-time lecturer for the academic year. Classes are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m., in-person. The position is contingent upon approval and may remain open until filled.

  • Teach SOC 320: Sociological Theory
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the college

Requirements

  • A master's degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service

Qualifications

  • A doctorate or terminal degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field

Skills

  • Ability to teach Sociology and/or Criminology & Justice Studies

Benefits

Salary is commensurate with credential and experience.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

The position is part-time and scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m., in-person.
