About the role
The Social Sciences Department at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, seeks a Full-time Lecturer to begin teaching in August 17, 2026. The position is for one year, renewable for a second year, with a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach sociological research methods (including qualitative and quantitative methods)
- Teach introduction to sociology, social problems, race, and/or classical social theory classes
- Teaching load is 15 weighted teaching units (WTUs) per semester, totaling 30 WTUs for the 2026-27 academic year
- May teach two or more sections of the same course in each term to reduce course preparation
Requirements
- M.A. in sociology or a closely related field
- A successful teaching record
- A PhD or ABD in sociology preferred
