Department of Sociology-Part-time Lecturer
About the role
One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and/or Spring Semester 2025.
Responsibilities
- Typically teach courses in Sociology, including but not limited to Introduction to Sociology, Sociological Theory, Qualitative Analysis & Field Research, Social Psychology, Socialization, Sociology of Education, Social Inequality, Environmental Sociology, Sociology of Sport, Medical Sociology, Sociology of Work, and Social Casework.
- Teach at both the main campus in San Bernardino and the Palm Desert campus.
- Contribute to the diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives of the department and university.
- Engage in professional development activities provided by the university.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Sociology or closely related field.
- PhD in Sociology or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated promise of excellence in teaching.
- At least 1 year of experience teaching in a multicultural university setting preferred.
Qualifications
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a diverse student body.
- Experience with teaching methodologies that support diverse learning environments.
