About the Role
The Department of Psychology at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer to teach PSYC 220: Introductory Statistics in Psychology.
Course Description
Basic statistical methods for analysis of data in psychology; descriptive and inferential statistics; hypothesis testing; parametric tests of significance. Introduction to linear regression and correlation; analysis of variance; nonparametric techniques. Students will participate in low-risk psychological experiments or complete additional short papers.
Responsibilities
- Teach PSYC 220: Introductory Statistics in Psychology in-person on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. during Fall 2026.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in psychology or a relevant field.
- Successful experience teaching at the college level.
Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A doctorate in Psychology or a relevant field.
- Higher education experience teaching introductory statistics in psychology.
- Research experience relevant to the course content.
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service.
Pay
Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $8,000 per full-time month, commensurate with education and experience. The salary schedule for the Lecturer – Academic Year classification is:
- Lecturer A – AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month.
- Lecturer B – AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full-time month.
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range.
