Lecturer Pool in School of Education (Academic Year 26/27)

The School of Education at Cal Poly Humboldt seeks temporary faculty to join its pool for teaching and credential supervision. The department is recognized for its high graduation and employment rates and offers undergraduate pathways and credential programs in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, and Education Leadership.

Qualifications

Instructor Minimum Qualifications

• M.A. or equivalent in appropriate field, or teaching credential in appropriate area.
• Minimum of one to three years successful teaching or equivalent experience in a setting applicable to the assignment.
• For a limited number of courses, a B.A. or equivalent in appropriate field and applicable experience may be considered.
• Certain courses require CPI instructor certification.

Instructor Preferred Qualifications

• Education Administration and General Education Courses: Ph.D. or ABD preferred, as well as experience working with diverse students and parents.
• Elementary Education and Secondary Education Courses: Evidence of teaching effectiveness, currency and relevance of training/teaching experience related to the assignment, and experience working with diverse students and parents.
• Special Education Courses: Evidence of teaching effectiveness, specifically in a K-12 level, currency and relevance of training/teaching experience related to the assignment, and experience working with diverse students and parents.

Credential Supervision Minimum Qualifications

• Earned Bachelor's Degree and valid credential in the specific program area aligned with the application to teach.
• Potential for effective teaching in the specific credential program.
• Record of successful teaching with K-12 schools.
• Demonstration of and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience teaching in an accredited teacher education program.
• Potential for effective teaching or teaching experience using a variety of methodologies.
• Ability to provide mentorship and guidance for student teachers.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program faculty, K-12 teachers, administrators, and candidates in field placements.
• Support teacher candidates and mentor teachers to understand the observation protocol and criteria to evaluate performance.
• Interest and ability to teach a broad range of courses in a credential program.
• Willingness to participate in the development of online learning experiences.

Credential Supervision Preferred Qualifications

• Earned Masters Degree or equivalent in Education or related field from an accredited college or university (preferred at the time of appointment).
• Current California Teaching or Administrative credential.
• Credential in the specific program area aligned with the application to teach.
• For Education Leadership Program: a doctorate is preferred.
• Commitment to the development of field experience placements and supervision of students in fieldwork and student teaching.
• Experience providing in-service education for K-12 teachers.

Pay

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary schedule for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is as follows:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 per month

Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
