Lecturer-Pool Faculty of Music (Elementary Music Education) -1 Position to be Filled

Part-time, non-tenure track position in the School of Music.

Responsibilities

• Teach the course Studies in Music for Children and possibly other courses appropriate to the individual’s background, experience, and School of Music needs.
• Work collaboratively with music education faculty in teaching music education students.
• Maintain positive relationships with public school music education programs.

Requirements

• Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred.
• Preference given to candidates with a successful record of teaching at the university, secondary, and elementary levels.
• Kodály certification is highly desirable.
• Experience and knowledge of:
  • Kodály philosophy and materials,
  • Orff techniques and instruments,
  • Folk song analysis,
  • Solfege,
  • Dalcroze concepts, and
  • Methods of other pedagogues in the field of elementary music.
