Leadperson
Job Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce all federal (MSHA/OSHA), state, and company safety policies.
- Perform standard office duties, plant duties and operate mobile equipment.
- Establish and maintain effective communication within all areas of operation.
- Perform regular inspections of plant equipment for mechanical issues. Work with the maintenance team to schedule preventative maintenance and assist with repairs as needed.
- Accurately complete daily production, safety, and maintenance logs. Assist management in developing mining plans, profit plans, and monthly forecasts.
- Operate mobile equipment (loaders, dozers, haul trucks) and perform manual tasks (shoveling, sweeping, plant cleaning) to maintain housekeeping standards.
- Other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School degree or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-4 years heavy equipment experience required.
- Must have knowledge of safety rules surrounding the functions of the position.
- Demonstrates exemplary skills in the field.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly and in writing using the English language.
- Must be able to use personal computers.
- Work requires self-starter skills with people leadership skills and leading by example.
- Ability to exercise independent decision-making, prioritize conflicting demands, and communicate with multiple associates.
- Ability to direct, motivate and coach the activities of others.
- Ability to perform well in team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, push and pull objects.
- Lift objects of various dimensions and weights.
- Operate hand controls with both hands, and operate foot pedals with both feet.
- Normal depth perception, vision and ability to distinguish color.
- Work requires the ability to wear hard hats, steel toe boots, hearing protection (in designated areas) protective glasses, filtering facemasks and full body harnesses when needed.
Work Environment
This job operates frequently in an operations environment at a surface mine location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
