Essential Functions
- Facilitate daily pre-shift meetings daily with all shift employees, including safety, daily workload review, and communication of other relevant information as needed
- Communicate daily work assignments, scan prints, and maintain schedules
- Use forklift to move parts or tubes in order to keep line flowing efficiently
- Complete daily foreman’s report
- Identify employee performance problems, investigate, document, notify supervisor of results and provide recommendations
- Cookordination work with other internal departments (small parts, large pole, paint, galvanizing, material handling, and maintenance)
- Maintain accurate daily record keeping and documents as required
- Lead or serve on department task force teams as needed
- Lead training of new employees
- Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring that all employees use appropriate PPE and comply with all safety policies and procedures
- Cookordination scheduling as needed to ensure necessary overlap assignments to cover vacancies
- Track reject tags, follow up tags with employees, and assign rework to be completed
- Order supplies as needed
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Minimum of 3+ years of welding knowledge
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Proficient in the use of common shop mathematics, and the ability to read and interpret complex prints and standard specifications
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as tape measure, heat stick-method for determining temperature of plate material, weld gauges, tri-square, and inclinometer
- Skill in keeping accurate records, inventory, inspecting finished product for quality, and strong attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- The ability to work independently toward team and department goals
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to co-workers, supervisors, and employees from other departments
- The ability to work overtime as needed
