Lead Transportation Coordinator

Supervisor Shipment Management role focused on customer interface, operational leadership, and continuous improvement within Ryder’s logistics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with internal and external customers on operational issues, tactical communications, and account status updates through regular business reviews, site visits, and presentations.
  • Lead daily conference calls with clients to support start-ups and ongoing business demands.
  • Supervise and cross-train Shipment Management Coordinators (SMCs) and provide direction to Shipment Management Representatives (SMRs).
  • Develop and execute logistical solutions to meet customer requirements and requests.
  • Track and report financial metrics and measurements for assigned accounts.
  • Ensure development and execution of training programs for account and operational activities.
  • Maintain account-level quality systems in accordance with site-wide ISO 9001 standards and function as an internal ISO auditor.
  • Accumulate and report account-specific metrics and measurements to Shipment Management Command Center (SMCC) management.
  • Plan staffing and operational requirements based on customer needs and forecasting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct transportation and/or logistics work experience.
  • 0 to 1 year of direct supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Advanced working knowledge of the transportation industry, carrier modes, and Ryder Integrated Logistics (RIL) service offerings.
  • Demonstrated PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Ability to develop a clear understanding of i2 TM and other legacy Shipment Management Systems (SMS).
  • Intermediate knowledge of basic financial management and SMCC financial requirements.
  • Intermediate understanding of SMS interaction in customer order management and ERP systems.
  • Intermediate understanding of assigned customer, customer product, and distribution requirements.
  • Intermediate ability to understand and maintain SMCC-specific ISO 9001 procedures and policies.
  • Intermediate knowledge and support of RIL policies and procedures.

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 per year. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on role level and type.
