About the role
Lead the definition of pipeline requirements, calculations, routes, and material selection. Prepare Scope of Work (SOW) and Basis of Design for contractors, monitor progress, and ensure timely preparation of deliverables. Drive pipeline engineering studies and project development phases with full autonomy, contributing to project success through the Project Management Process framework.
Responsibilities
- Define pipeline engineering requirements, including calculations, routing, and material selection.
- Prepare and monitor SOW and Basis of Design for contractors, ensuring deliverable completion.
- Conduct pipeline engineering studies independently and contribute to project development phases.
- Participate in safety reviews, audits, and technical integrity assessments throughout project lifecycles.
- Identify and apply Republic of Kazakhstan (RoK) Codes & Standards for pipeline discipline and develop technical specifications.
- Inspect pipeline equipment and conduct site visits during installation.
- Develop constructability strategies and procedures compliant with Kazakh and international standards.
- Lead implementation of procurement, fabrication, and construction strategies for projects.
- Communicate Company requirements for World Class Standards to the Technical Service Department.
- Participate in troubleshooting, inspections, and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to establish corrective plans.
- Drive Quality Assurance and Control reviews to ensure technical integrity, constructability, functionality, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with integrity assurance strategies for pipeline components and systems.
- Liaise with RoK technical law compliance engineers to reflect regulatory changes in integrity strategies.
- Review deliverables from Engineering & Procurement Contractors.
- Prepare Data Sheets (DS), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and requisitions for pipeline materials.
- Define interfaces between existing production facilities and new installations, optimizing schedules and minimizing cost/safety risks.
- Contribute to a database of size, weight, cost, and delivery time for major equipment and packages.
- Capitalize on lessons learned from operations and discipline-specific activities.
- Lead HSE discussions and workshops related to pipelines.
- Conduct Value Engineering studies as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 12+ years of relevant engineering, construction, maintenance, and/or operations experience in Oil & Gas pipelines/sealines.
- Mandatory experience in inspection/maintenance activities within the pipeline discipline.
- Wide knowledge of pipeline selection, design, installation, and commissioning best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of international standards, codes, and industry best practices for material selection.
- Awareness of high-pressure and high-H₂S facility challenges.
- Familiarity with RoK and/or other Caspian projects, both onshore and offshore.
- Mandatory experience in early project phases (concept selection, pre-FEED, and FEED).
