About the Role
This position serves as a Technical Authority (TA 2) in process engineering, providing functional expertise and technical knowledge in areas including multiphase flow, flow assurance, process engineering (compression, gas dehydration, sour gas injection, process safeguarding, sour gas treatment, crude stabilization, produced water handling, sulfur recovery, tail gas treatment, and sewage water treatment). The role ensures compliance with Company and Industry Codes and Standards for onshore/offshore process safeguarding and advises on deviations.
Responsibilities
- Provide functional expertise and technical advice on process engineering, including multiphase flow, flow assurance, and process safeguarding.
- Ensure compliance with Company and Industry Codes and Standards; advise on deviations and recommend interpretations.
- Implement and monitor adherence to approved Codes & Standards through periodic reviews of deliverables.
- Follow Kashagan Process Engineering policy and promote best practices, RoK Design regulations, and procedures for onshore operations.
- Support technical and compliance audits by PSA, local authorities, and others.
- Recommend new or unproven technologies for Process Engineering to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks related to eMOCs (Engineering Management of Change) and FSR (Facility Safety Reviews).
- Review business-critical deliverables and prepare an annual report on the health of the process engineering discipline.
- Serve as Job Family owner for Process Engineering and Flow Assurance, including competency assessment (TA2/3) and development through training, mentoring, and coaching.
- Review plant change proposals (eMoC) for technical acceptability, considering process safety aspects.
- Identify and execute front-end development for Potential Change Notices (brownfield projects <10 million USD) related to process facility improvements.
- Provide process engineering support during FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and Detailed Design phases.
- Offer on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to national staff.
- Guide the technical work of the team under the direction of the Process Engineering Team Lead.
- Ensure practical application of process engineering guidelines for onshore/offshore assets.
- Generate opportunities to optimize energy and resource utilization (heat, power, and water).
- Investigate process flow assurance issues, process control queries, and system optimization; update operating procedures and troubleshoot as needed.
- Support best practices, new technologies, and knowledge sharing to improve functional responsiveness.
- Guide process engineering support for operations, commissioning, and restart of production facilities.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, IPF, Risk Assessments, and QRA reviews to provide effective Process Engineering input.
- Confirm Process Engineering activities align with applicable HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) practices and procedures.
- Review process documentation, including flow schemes, specifications, and operating procedures.
- Deliver process studies and recommend improvements for onshore/offshore assets.
- Advise on optimal and safe operating windows for all onshore/offshore facilities.
- Organize technical reviews of environmental performance, licensing, and reporting for onshore/offshore assets.
- Support P&M (Production & Maintenance) Operability & Maintainability Module reviews, conduct follow-up site visits, and manage concerns registries.
- Provide Process Engineering support for shutdown planning and activity coordination.
- Research and prepare Potential Change Notices (PCNs) to ensure technical validity and cost estimations for management endorsement.
- Respond to technical requirements of onshore/offshore assets.
- Confirm the technical quality of all Onshore/Offshore Process Engineering work, including contractor reports.
- Contribute new ideas and identify opportunities to improve business process efficiency.
- Demonstrate commitment to HSE through personal application of safety-critical behaviors and compliance with statutory regulations.
- Serve as Process Owner/focal point for Process Safety Memorandums, Process Safety Valves calculations, and Low-Temperature Embrittlement.
- Make technical decisions with mid-level impact on Asset Integrity and Process Safety.
Requirements
- Degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in Process Engineering; must be a Process Engineering TA2 or equivalent (or assessed as TA2 within 4 months in role).
- Expertise in Process Engineering, international engineering standards, and best practices.
- Familiarity with the project life cycle (conceptual design through commissioning) or front-line oil and gas production operations is desirable.
- Experience driving business improvement in engineering, focusing on technology, fit-for-purpose solutions, and cost-effectiveness.
- Experience in staff development, training, coaching, or mentoring.
- Experience working in high-concentration H₂S environments and with high-pressure, high-H₂S content facilities.
- Experience in both onshore and offshore operating environments.

Schedule
5/2 work schedule (5 days on, 2 days off) based in Atyrau.
