About the role

Lead the definition of pipeline requirements, calculations, routes, and material selection. Prepare Scope of Work (SOW) and Basis of Design for contractors, monitor progress, and ensure preparation of deliverables. Conduct pipeline engineering studies with full autonomy and provide input across all project phases. Drive team goals, ensure technical integrity, and comply with Republic of Kazakhstan (RoK) codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define pipeline engineering requirements, including calculations, routes, and material selection.
  • Prepare SOW and Basis of Design for contractors; monitor progress and deliverables.
  • Conduct pipeline engineering studies independently.
  • Provide pipeline engineering input across all project development phases.
  • Participate in safety reviews, audits, and technical integrity assessments.
  • Apply RoK codes and standards to develop pipeline engineering technical specifications.
  • Inspect pipeline equipment and conduct site visits during installation.
  • Develop pipeline constructability strategies and procedures compliant with Kazakh and international standards.
  • Lead implementation of approved procurement, fabrication, and construction strategies.
  • Communicate Company requirements for world-class standards to the Technical Service Department.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, inspections, and root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
  • Drive quality assurance and control reviews for technical integrity, constructability, and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with integrity assurance strategies for pipeline components.
  • Liaise with RoK technical law compliance engineers to reflect regulatory changes.
  • Review deliverables from engineering and procurement contractors.
  • Prepare data sheets (DS), technical bid evaluations (TBE), and requisitions for pipeline materials.
  • Define interfaces between existing and new facilities to optimize installation, minimize costs, and reduce safety risks.
  • Contribute to a database of equipment size, weight, cost, and delivery time for offshore and onshore facilities.
  • Capitalize on lessons learned from operations and discipline-specific experience.
  • Lead HSE discussions and workshops about pipelines.
  • Conduct value engineering studies.

Management Responsibilities

  • Develop effective working relationships with relevant disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Act as a role model to promote a strong service culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of relevant engineering, construction, maintenance, or operations experience in oil and gas pipelines/sealines.
  • Experience in inspection and maintenance activities specific to pipelines.
  • Wide knowledge of pipeline selection, design, installation, and commissioning best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of international standards, codes, and industry best practices for material selection.
  • Awareness of high-pressure and high-H₂S facilities.
  • Familiarity with RoK and/or other Caspian projects (onshore and/or offshore).
  • Experience in early project phases (concept selection, pre-FEED, and FEED).

Schedule

5/2 work schedule (5 days on, 2 days off).

Location: Atyrau
