Lead Imaging Technologist

About the role

The Lead Technologist provides leadership by scheduling work, providing training to staff including orientation of new staff, assisting leadership with feedback for staff performance evaluations; providing counseling to staff and recommending appropriate disciplinary action to leadership; and reviewing the work of staff.

Responsibilities

• Aids the Imaging Manager with coordination of technologists and students, including interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, disciplinary action, performance reviews, developmental goals, and department metrics/dashboard and competency evaluations.
• Maintains regulatory compliance by conducting proficiency testing, preventative maintenance, test validation, and inspections to ensure the department is always inspection-ready.
• Handles payroll, continuing education, weekly schedules, and other employee records in accordance with AAMC and department standards, as well as ordering supplies and ensuring proper inventories are being met in all offices/rooms.
• Assists the Imaging Manager in departmental coverage, serving as a point of contact for any department staff member in their designated site or modality, and as a point of contact for patient inquiries in that modality.
• Communicates policies, procedures, and directives to team members, assists with questions regarding procedures, policies, and directives, and serves as a positive bridge between management and staff.
• Performs all job duties and requirements listed in the job description of the individual’s primary modality, such as Mammo, MRI, CT, X-ray, etc.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a formal technologist program from an AMA-approved educational institution.
• Minimum of three years' experience as a staff technologist.
• Required License/Certifications: Current certification with ARRT, ARMRIT, NMTCB, or ARDMS, licensed by the state of Maryland, and American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Education: Formal technologist program from an AMA-approved educational institution.
• Experience: Minimum of three years' experience as a staff technologist.
