About the role
The Imaging Technologist performs portable and fixed unit Radiographic/Fluoroscopic procedures and Computed Tomography (CT) procedures in support of the patient diagnostic requirements at the Free Standing Emergency Facility. Practices radiation safety and observes universal precautions at all times. Pursues professional development for the continual improvement of patient care. Performs related work as required.
As a Lead Technologist, serves as a role model and coordinator for Imaging related functions in the FSED. Performs all radiologic, fluoroscopic, and CT procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manual and complies with all applicable federal, state, local, and other regulatory requirements. Controls the flow of patients within the section in an efficient and timely fashion. Covers other staff positions in relief situations as needed, within competency parameters. Works efficiently and performs all exams within allocated timeframe.
Responsibilities
- Reports any significant problems related to patients, physicians, procedures, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, or personnel to the on-site Technical Director, Supervisor, and/or the Radiology Director/Assistant Director.
- Responsible for proper documentation and maintenance of all required department records.
- Properly enters charges for exams in RIS (Meditech) in a timely manner.
- Serves as immediate supervisor for all staff within modality. Establishes priorities, delegates responsibility, and effectively utilizes department time, personnel, and equipment within the imaging modality.
- Communicates appropriate information from leadership meetings and department administrative team to all modality staff in a timely and positive manner.
- Responsible for staffing all shifts in modality to include on-call coverage. Provides monthly work schedule to Department Administrative team.
- Serves as preceptor for new technologists; schedules and documents department orientation and initial competency.
- Maintains effective education program relevant to current equipment, technology, and protocols for imaging modality.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology.
- Registered with ARRT in Radiography and CT.
- BLS Certified.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience performing radiographic/fluoroscopic and CT procedures as a registered ARRT Technologist.
