About the Role
The Lead Technologist provides leadership by scheduling work, training staff (including orientation of new staff), assisting leadership with feedback for staff performance evaluations, counseling staff, and reviewing staff work. Additionally, this role performs routine imaging procedures in accordance with established safety and quality standards and patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Imaging Manager with coordination of technologists and students, including interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, disciplinary action, performance reviews, developmental goals, and department metrics/dashboard and competency evaluations.
- Assists the Imaging Manager with maintaining regulatory compliance, including proficiency testing, preventative maintenance, test validation, and inspections to ensure the department is always inspection-ready.
- Assists the Imaging Manager with payroll, continuing education, weekly schedules, and other employee records in accordance with AAMC and department standards, as well as ordering supplies and ensuring proper inventories.
- Leads office staff in the absence of the Imaging Manager.
- Assists the management team with departmental coverage and serves as a point of contact for staff and patient inquiries in the designated site or modality.
- Assists the manager in communicating policies, procedures, and directives, and serves as a bridge between management and staff.
- Performs all job duties and requirements listed in the primary modality job description (e.g., Mammo, MRI, CT, X-ray).
Requirements
- Successful completion of a formal technologist program from an AMA-approved educational institution.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a staff technologist.
Qualifications
- Current certification with ARRT, ARMRIT, NMTCB, or ARDMS.
- Licensed by the state of Maryland.
- American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification.
Pay
$47.59—$59 USD per hour.
