Lead Gas Technician

Position Summary

The Lead Gas Technician performs a wide variety of tasks in the field related to pressure and metering facilities. The individual is responsible for all aspects of the Senior Gas Technician & Gas Technician positions. Additionally, the individual is responsible for installation, set-up, maintenance, identification of abnormal operations conditions and troubleshooting/repairs for telemetering equipment, farm taps, pressure regulation stations and relief devices. The individual is also responsible for inspections of all components of pressure regulation stations and farm taps. Additionally, the individual must be competent in meter reading and locating underground gas facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform system maintenance
• Maintain a company vehicle
• Control job inventory
• Self-inspect company operation activities
• Maintain company tools and equipment
• Maintain Operator Qualifications
• Be put into an on-call rotation
• Respond to emergency situations

Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Valid motor vehicle license required
• Must be bondable with no record of felony convictions
• At least 8 years of experience combined as a Gas Technician & Senior Gas Technician

Competencies

• Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing for ease of understanding between customers, authorities, and fellow employees
• Analytical ability to investigate electrical and mechanical indications and use them to arrive at solutions to complex problems
• Experience with Microsoft Office or similar computer programs desirable

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Daily activity is fast paced, physically demanding, and with production goals
• Duties involve heavy lifting and manual labor
• Must be available for emergency call-outs and able to work extended hours
• Job site reporting is common
• Majority of workday spent outdoors; exposed to extremes of heat, cold, noise, and dust
• Exposure to construction equipment and normal driving hazards encountered regularly
