Lead Contract Compliance Specialist
This is a full-time position reporting to 1301 Gervais St, Columbia, SC 29201.
About the Role
Coordinates market conduct and regulatory reporting activities. Researches and interprets state and federal insurance laws and regulations pertaining to marketplace activity, including privacy and security measures, and how these legal requirements relate to business operations. Responsible for drafting, filing, and maintaining regulatory reporting to establish and maintain compliance in all jurisdictions in which the Company does business. Issues guidance to business divisions regarding statutory and regulatory developments while assisting with technical problems related to implementation of law and regulation. Researches, tracks, and resolves suspected compliance and privacy issues.
Responsibilities
- Identifies filings, reports, and other submissions that are required for regulatory compliance in all jurisdictions in which the Company does business.
- Develops and submits required filings and reports to state insurance regulators on behalf of the Company.
- Manages the identification, collection, and analysis of data and information from internal and external partners to establish compliance with laws and regulations governing market behavior in all applicable jurisdictions.
- Researches and interprets statutes, regulations, and agency bulletins to resolve applicable questions or issues regarding regulatory compliance.
- Reviews legislative changes and assists in determining potential impact to business units.
- Supports business divisions in their implementation of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitors external business partner compliance with Company market conduct guidelines and government regulations.
- Identifies necessary improvements and recommends remediation plans to resolve identified compliance issues.
- Investigates potential regulatory compliance issues and acts as liaison between compliance area, other business divisions, and government agencies in connection with such inquiries.
- May review business division materials and/or plan program materials for compliance and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a job-related field or 4 years of job-related work experience or Associate's degree and 2 years of job-related work experience.
- 7 years of compliance, audit, and/or legal experience.
- 4 years of experience in contract analysis, contracting, and preparations (may be concurrent).
