Law Enforcement Security Officer: Part Time Armed Patrol Driver

About the role

As a Law Enforcement Security Officer (Part Time Armed Patrol Driver) in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government and airports. This role involves conducting routine patrols, maintaining a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, and responding professionally to evolving situations. Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to travelers, airport personnel, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, coordinating with airport operations and law enforcement personnel as needed.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout airport facilities, terminals, parking areas, access points, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access control points and restricted areas, verify credentials, and report suspicious activity, hazards, or policy violations according to site procedures.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, patrol logs, and other required documentation while following applicable laws, regulations, and Allied Universal procedures.
• Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
• Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude while taking orders, following instructions, and accepting responsibility for actions.
• Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct in all situations.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
• Provide court appearances for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
• Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
• Valid Driver’s License (required for driving positions).
• Law Enforcement Officer License.
• 22+ years of age.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Completion of one of the following approved programs:
  • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
  • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
  • Federal law enforcement training.
  • Programs approved by the Director.
• No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922(g)(9)).
• No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
• No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental/emotional disorders that could interfere with job performance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to supervise personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, law enforcement agencies, and the public on security-related matters.

Physical Requirements

• Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all assigned duties.
• Good physical health and fully capable of performing moderate to arduous physical exertion, including standing, walking, patrolling for entire shifts, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense.
• Ability to perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
  • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance.
  • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility.
• Ability to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of official duties.
• Pass a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months.
• Pass a 12-panel drug test and all future random drug testing.
• Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision.
• Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid permitted).
• Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
• Pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office.
