Lactation Consultant (PRN)

About the Role

The role involves providing expert lactation consultation and support to mothers of pediatric patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote optimal breastfeeding outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Educate staff and families on breastfeeding management
• Monitor progress of breastfeeding initiatives
• Develop policies and procedures related to breastfeeding support
• Maintain breastfeeding statistics for quality improvement initiatives
• Counsel mothers on breastfeeding techniques and challenges
• Develop educational programs for staff and families
• Participate in research related to breastfeeding and lactation
• Ensure effective breastfeeding support across the organization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Administration, Nutrition, or Nursing
• Current IBCLC certification or eligibility to sit for the exam

Preferred Skills

• Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English)
• Effective communication and counseling abilities
• Experience in neonatal or pediatric settings

Requirements

• CPR certification
• Ability to develop and implement lactation resources and policies
• Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment
• Adherence to safety protocols
