About the role
Provides lactation support, education, and assistance to mothers and families in a high-energy obstetrics and mother-baby unit.
Responsibilities
- Initiates and maintains contact with mothers during hospitalization to promote breastfeeding
- Coordinates outpatient lactation services
- Collaborates with staff to deliver education
- Represents the hospital in community outreach
- Works closely with nursing and ancillary teams to ensure optimal patient care and comfort
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN license
- Obtain certification as a Lactation Consultant within two years
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, walk, and perform various physical movements
- Healthcare provider CPR certification
