About the Role
Provides lactation consultation and support as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote optimal breastfeeding outcomes for mothers and infants.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with healthcare team to develop and modify breastfeeding care plans.
- Educates staff and families on breastfeeding management and skills.
- Monitors breastfeeding progress and maintains relevant statistics.
- Develops policies and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Current IBCLC certification or eligibility to sit for the exam.
- CPR certification required.
- Graduation from an accredited program in Administration, Nutrition, or Nursing.
- Preferred experience in neonatal or pediatric units; bilingual skills desirable.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
Work Environment
Involves possible exposure to infectious diseases, handling stressful situations, and working with diverse patient circumstances.
