Lactation Consultant - PRN

Position Overview The role provides lactation support, education, and assistance to mothers and families, ensuring a positive breastfeeding experience during hospitalization and post-discharge care. It involves initiating and maintaining contact with mothers, coordinating outpatient services, and serving as a clinical and educational resource for hospital staff. The role requires collaboration with nursing and ancillary departments to optimize patient care, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal care activities. It operates within the scope of nursing practice, adhering to professional, ethical, and institutional guidelines, and involves representing the organization in community outreach and educational activities. The position demands flexibility in scheduling to ensure consistent patient contact and support. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an approved nursing programCurrent RN licensure and minimum 1 year of experienceCertified Lactation Consultant (CLC) certification requiredCurrent healthcare provider CPR certification or completion within probation periodDemonstrated clinical expertise, interpersonal, and communication skillsAbility to multitask and adapt to routine changes Physical & Work Environment Requires standing and walking during shifts, meeting physical demands specific to the unit. May involve working varying schedules, including weekends and evenings, with usage of unit-specific equipment. Preferred qualifications include a BSN and experience in mother/baby care.
