Responsibilities
- Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment
- Identify nursing problems as they relate to individual patient needs
- Plan individualized patient care using an interdisciplinary approach
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the hospital’s mission and vision statement
- When acting as charge nurse: oversee day‑to‑day activities to ensure delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment
- Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill
- Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff
- Respond timely to requests for information or follow‑up with physicians, staff, or patient issues
- Demonstrate age‑specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet patient needs and document all patient care
