Labor and Delivery Nurse

About the Role

The Labor and Delivery Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, utilizing therapeutic communication and maintaining a safe, confidential environment. They assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, perform technical skills, and participate in performance improvement activities aligned with the hospital's mission.

Responsibilities

• Utilize therapeutic communication and ensure patient confidentiality.
• Assess and identify nursing problems related to patient needs.
• Apply age-specific knowledge of human development and treatment.
• Document all patient care activities accurately.
• Perform technical skills, follow procedures, and demonstrate critical thinking.
• Coordinate care and support hospital goals and values.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited nursing school (B.S. or A.S.).
• Minimum 1 year RN experience; labor and delivery experience preferred.
• Valid licensure by the state nursing board.
• Certifications including BLS, ACLS, NRP, and CPI within specified timeframes.

Skills

• Knowledge of patient assessment, treatment, and confidentiality protocols.
