Role Overview

The Labor and Delivery Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of the RN Practice Act, utilizing therapeutic communication to maintain a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops individualized patient care plans
• Performs technical skills and follows procedures
• Documents care accurately
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient needs
• Supports hospital goals aligned with the mission and vision

Key Duties

• Communicates therapeutically
• Assesses patient needs
• Ensures privacy
• Utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive care

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree from an accredited nursing program
• At least 1 year of RN experience (preferably in labor and delivery)
• Active licensure
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN (mandatory within specified timeframes)
• Age-specific knowledge
