Responsibilities

• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient
• Demonstrate age‑specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment and care of patients
• Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI)
• Utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet patient needs and document all patient care
• Perform technical skills, follow procedures, and show critical thinking
• Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement
• When acting in charge nurse role: oversee day‑to‑day activities to ensure quality patient care in a therapeutic environment; make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and staff skill; serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff; respond timely to requests for information or follow‑up with physicians, staff, or patient issues

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.)
• 1 year of RN experience
• Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred
• BLS ACLS required within 6 months
• NRP required within 6 months
• AWH
