Labor and Delivery Nurse
About the Role
As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, the Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. You will utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. The role involves planning individualized patient care using an interdisciplinary approach, participating in performance improvement activities, and coordinating care that aligns with the hospital’s mission and vision statement.
Responsibilities
- Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
- Identify nursing problems related to individual patient needs.
- Demonstrate age-specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Utilize the nursing process for individualized care and document all patient care.
- Perform technical skills, follow procedures, and apply critical thinking.
- Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the hospital’s mission and vision.
Requirements
- Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.).
- Current licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
- 1 year of RN experience.
- Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred.
- BLS certification (required).
- ACLS certification (required within 6 months).
- NRP certification (required within 6 months).
- AWHONN basic, intermediate, and advanced certifications (required within one year).
- CPI Training & Certification (required within 6 months).

About the Facility
Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge, providing a full range of medical and surgical services, including orthopedics and robotic surgery. The hospital features:
- A 24/7 Emergency Department, recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center.
- Obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures.
- A Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with specialized providers, including neonatologists, neonatal nurses, and respiratory therapists, on-site at all times.
