About the Role
The Deschutes County Circuit Court in Bend, Oregon, is hiring a Collections and Verification Clerk. In this role, you will impact community members who come to the court to have their cases resolved. Responsibilities
- Perform collection duties including adding new payment schedules, maintaining current payment plans, and sending collection affidavits.
- Review, approve, and monitor payment plan requests, extensions, and establish new accounts.
- Monitor returning cases from the Department of Corrections collection program for new addresses to offer defendants new payment plans.
- Set up and review reports in Odyssey related to payment plans, due dates, and debtor information.
- Verify judgments with restitution and disbursement orders for accuracy of language and financial data.
- Monitor and release security deposits and maintain cases with posted security on warrant status.
- Verify and reconcile data in the Odyssey system against other available information to correct erroneous entries.
- Work with collection agencies to maintain records and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist the public in person, by phone, and electronically with payment plans, accounting questions, and problem resolution.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in cash receipting and control, financial reporting, collections, and/or banking financial experience.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three years that supports the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Skills
- Assessing a significant amount of data with high attention to detail.
- Handling cash and other forms of payment to credit accounts and update balance information.
- Reviewing numeric financial information to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, resolve discrepancies, and prepare daily banking deposits.
- Responding to complaints or requests for information from internal and external customers.
- Interacting with customers facing challenging circumstances, high stress, or trauma.

Pay
Salary range: $4,539 - $7,042 per month. New hires are offered up to the third step of the salary range, depending on experience. Eligible for a 5% annual increase.
Schedule
Full-time position, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week. Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.

- Regular use of electronic recording equipment, telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
