About the Role

As Vice President of the Akron-Canton Advocacy Alliance for the Chamber, you will connect chamber members to key information on relevant political activities, convene regional stakeholders on pressing issues facing the business community, and advocate for identified solutions.

Coming from a family of small business owners, this role focuses on working with companies to understand and pursue the various policies and opportunities they stand to benefit from. Although not every effort results in a “win,” facilitating conversations that identify real issues and solutions to achieve tangible results on behalf of small businesses is a rewarding aspect of the position.

Responsibilities

• Connect chamber members to key information on relevant political activities.
• Convene regional stakeholders on pressing issues facing the business community.
• Advocate for identified solutions to support small businesses.
• Facilitate conversations to identify real issues and actionable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Akron.
• Experience working with small businesses and understanding their policy-related needs.
• Involvement in nonprofit committees, advisory boards, and advocacy-related events.
