About the role
This full-time apprenticeship program transforms participants into certified John Deere experts through hands-on shop work and monthly classroom instruction. You’ll work in one of our 38 John Deere dealership locations across six states under experienced technicians, then travel to Mitchell, South Dakota for one week each month for paid in-class and hands-on learning (travel, food, lodging, and class costs covered). The program lasts 2–3 years (2 years with prior mechanic experience, 3 years with none).
Need tools? Choose from a $3,000 or $7,500 tool package—work for us for three years, and the tools are yours. Earn money while completing your John Deere Apprenticeship Certification and gaining real work experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on John Deere agricultural equipment
- Work with diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics, and precision ag technology
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and software
- Complete digital service documentation
- Learn and follow professional shop procedures and safety practices
- Work alongside experienced technicians who mentor and train you
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment
- Ability to work full-time
- Valid driver’s license
