About the Role
This position is for a Level 1 IT support technician at a growing automotive dealership group with a strong culture focused on mutually beneficial relationships with team members and customers. You will report directly to the IT director and collaborate with senior Level 2 & 3 IT staff on projects. This role offers opportunities to grow into all areas of IT within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide general IT support for workplace devices, with on-the-job training for specialized or industry-specific tools.
- Hardware-based tasks:
- Servers (Microsoft Windows, phone, and camera servers): User, computer, and group management; extension and fax user management; camera installation, video review, and export.
- Switches and wireless APs: Physical installation, MAC address exceptions, and AP setup.
- Phones (Sangoma, Yealink, Polycom): Physical setup and maintenance.
- Laptops and desktops (PC and Mac): General setup, Bootcamp configuration, and troubleshooting.
- MDI (Service technician tool): Setup, installation, and troubleshooting.
- TVs and displays: Installation, setup, and content delivery equipment linking (HDMI baluns).
- Printers (network and desktop), scanners, iPads/iPhones, desktop switches, plotters, automotive key cutters, CC machines, Apple TVs, and postage meters: Setup, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Software and infrastructure-based tasks:
- Cloud antivirus: Threat identification and workstation-based actions.
- Cloud email servers: User management, account setups, and client configuration.
- Structured cabling: Ethernet cabling installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance (rack/workstation).
- Inventory management: Bi-annual manual inventory surveys and bi-monthly standby equipment checks.
- Department-specific software: Direct in-house support or vendor assistance.
Requirements
We prioritize a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a strong work history. The following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on IT help desk experience.
- 2+ years of secondary IT education focused on workstation hardware, software, and Ethernet networking.
- Certifications (examples below; others will also be considered):
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- Udemy IT Help Desk Professional or similar
- Microsoft IT Support: Fundamentals
- Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP)
- Udemy Desktop Support Level 1 & 2 in real life - Troubleshooting
- Familiarity or willingness to work with basic tools (e.g., drills, ladders, networking tools, hardware assembly tools).
Schedule
- Full-time, 40-hour workweek with occasional pre-scheduled weekend rotations.
- After-hours or before-hours maintenance may be required.
- Occasional out-of-town travel (typically every 3 months for less than 3 days; often daily trips).
- Partial work-from-home options available depending on circumstances.
- Reliable transportation required for driving between locations (primarily in central Florida).
Pay
Competitive pay ranging from $45,000 to $68,000 annually, depending on experience.
