About the Role

This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) role for an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CUSTSPT/SYSADMIN), GG-2210-13, within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at JBSA in San Antonio-Lackland, TX. The role supports the Joint Cyber Command and Control (JCC2) Program Office by providing technical guidance on cyber policies, analyzing and mitigating cyber risks, developing security architecture, performing vulnerability assessments, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data.

Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) selected, a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period may be required. This position may close at any time.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on cyber policies and risk management framework (RMF).
• Analyze and mitigate cyber risks, develop security architecture, and perform vulnerability assessments.
• Implement security controls while maximizing operational availability and supporting frequent capability releases and upgrades for cyberspace systems.
• Oversee multiple development, testing, and production environments (e.g., AWS Gov Cloud Dev, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS).
• Manage security-relevant changes, conduct security impact analyses, process connection requests, and manage Interconnection Service Agreements (ISAs).
• Process Domain Name System (DNS) requests and ensure the integrity and availability of DNS services.
• Isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs.
• Measure system performance, evaluate risk, and extend weapon system capabilities to support organizational business processes.
• Manage assigned tasks, track progress, update project performance systems (e.g., PPS), and participate in Engineering Review Board (ERB) and Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings.
• Implement and execute incident response procedures, including incident identification, containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Support operational activities such as special operations, personnel recovery, airlift, weapon systems, command, control, and mission processes.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance.
• Must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
• Must obtain and maintain the required level of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification within 9 months of assigned duties.
• Must obtain and maintain the required Information Assurance Certification within six months of assignment.
• This is a designated Drug Testing Position.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge and skill in the development, use, and sustainment of IT systems.
• Knowledge of IT systems analysis and applications software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities.
• Experience evaluating new and emerging IT security methods and principles, including managing software approval requests and familiarity with Capture the Flag (CTF) exercises.
• Knowledge of IT management information systems and applications software technology to troubleshoot hardware, system, and applications software issues.
• Experience in IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques.

Pay

Base salary range: $132,751 to $181,428. Recruitment, retention, and relocation incentives may be available.
