IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC)
This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It supports the mission of the US Cyber Command and is classified as a Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, located in the DISA Cyber Security Division/Cyber Security Operations Branch.
Responsibilities
- Assists customers and resolves complex issues with minimal business disruption.
- Develops and manages customer support policies, procedures, and performance requirements.
- Leads rapid response teams in response to customer service problems resulting from catastrophic events.
- Analyzes and resolves a complete range of problems within the scope of activity operations and refers operational problems as needed.
- Develops, updates, and maintains a comprehensive database of technical and corresponding resolutions.
- Evaluates and reports on new tools and trends in the customer support field.
- Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of customer support services.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- In accordance with DoD 8140 policy, the position requires completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months.
- May be subject to initial and random drug testing, if applicable.
- This is a Mission Essential Position; the incumbent may be required to report to work or relocate during local/national emergencies.
- Subject to varying work shifts and shift rotations to support 7-day, 24-hour mission requirements, if required by upper management.
- Some travel may be required in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations.
- Requires a Secret/Non-Critical Sensitive (S/NCS) security clearance.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing your own information technology-related work or data and being asked by others to review their work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
- Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to meet those needs.
- Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from various sources to provide potential solutions.
Qualifying Experience for GG-12: Your resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience includes:
- Accessing and applying IT policies, developing IT policy for organizational use.
- Applying project management and financial management principles.
- Briefing leadership on financial and operational recommendations to increase efficiency.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level.

- You may be required to serve a 3-year probationary period, during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
- Telework availability will be based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.

- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 and may be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
